Have you ever noticed that Dove doesn't use the term soap on any of its products? They call them "beauty bars". That's because it's not even soap! In addition to that, their products are filled with toxic chemicals.
A lot of soaps on the market contain triclosan and potassium/sodium hydroxide. Again, revert back to my ingredients to avoid post.
Have you ever heard of castile soap? Pure castile soap means it's a vegetable oil-based ecological soap. If you read the labels on castile soap, you will see potassium hydroxide in the liquid soaps and sodium hydroxide in the bar soaps. But wait, didn't I already tell you sodium/potassium hydroxide is harmful? This is where it gets tricky. Potassium hydroxide is a form of lye, which is needed to make true soap. For liquid soap, potassium hydroxide is used; for solid/bar soap, sodium hydroxide is used. No matter which, the basic reaction is the same: lye reacts chemically with the fats and oils to become soap and glycerin. That's called saponification, the term referred to on the label of castile soaps. In a properly formulated soap, it's true that ALL the lye will be used up in the reaction and NONE will remain in the final product. If lye remained, the soap would be harsh, ranging from irritating to causing chemical burns.
Dr. Bronners Castile Soap - https://www.drbronner.com All of these soaps are Certified Fair Trade and organic. They do not add any chelating agents, dyes, whiteners, or synthetic fragrances. They use pure and powerful high-quality certified organic essential oils. These soaps are sold in both the liquid form and the bar form. They come in a variety of scents, my favorites are the almond, rose, and citrus. I love this soap. I use the bar form in the shower. I use the liquid form as hand soap, in my laundry detergent, and in the face wash I make. You can find Dr. Bronners at Wegmans, Target, The Vitamin Shoppe, and online.

I went to Marshall's and bought glass foaming pump bottles for $5.99 each. I got home and got out my Dr. Bronner's liquid castile soap. I have it in lavender, almond, rose, and citrus because those are my favorite scents. You can see a full list of Dr. Bronner's here and choose the scent you want. The ratio to make the soap is 5:1, 1 part castile soap to 5 parts water. Fill the bottles, give it a little shake, and voila you have a chemical free hand soap! I put these bottles in all the bathrooms and kitchen at my house. I love this soap because it's super easy to make and free of chemicals.
Shave Gel
Personally I make my own and I love it!
1/2 cup Dr Bronners liquid Castile soap
1/4 cup hot water
1/2 tsp salt (this acts as a preservative)
2 Tbsp vegetable glycerin
2 Tbsp pure aloe vera gel (make sure you buy one that's 100% pure, like this )
8 drops of essential oil (optional, I left this out because I used a scented Dr Bronners)
Dissolve the salt in the hot water then add remaining ingredients. Transfer to a pump bottle.
If you don't want to make your own, here are a few chemical free ones

Hi! My name is Sara. S-a-r-a, no h because h's are ewwww (I love Jimmy Fallon's SNL "Ew!" skit) I created this blog as an eye opener to the harmful chemicals found in our beauty products. Two years ago the eyelashes in my right eye fell out. Do you know what it's like to look at someone without eyelashes? Scary! I went to the doctor, got a prescription, and they grew back. Then they fell out again. That's when I decided to learn more about the ingredients in my makeup and skincare.
